Details
About the event
This Fall 2024 program is designed specifically for current nonprofit board members. Over the course of six sessions, our goal is to provide an overview of the nonprofit sector and its structure as well as support, knowledge, and skill-building around the fundamentals of board participation. The program includes guest speakers from the community to address the day-to-day details and real-life responsibilities of board service. Whether your board is 3 years old or 30, with a large staff or no staff, serving as a board member is a specific responsibility.

Meet the people leading the conversation
Ross Chaney
Ross Chaney
My consulting services focus on working with nonprofit boards, staff, and constituents to provide insight, facilitation, strategic planning, and long-term, cross-functional management solutions. I combine a creative mindset with big-picture thinking, analysis, and strategy, while utilizing a collaborative, cross-cultural approach to ensure that strategies and solutions are inclusive and community-centered.
While I am skilled at working with people from a variety of backgrounds, I bring unique expertise and experience to the table in regard to serving Native American (and other diverse) populations, artists, and youth, and particularly those youth who have experienced loss and grief. Ross brings 20 years of Northern NM nonprofit and public service experience to offer consulting services for nonprofit Executive Directors and Board leadership with issues of governance, organizational development, strategy, real time HR issues, program/operations expansion or reduction, partnerships with local government, budgeting or general finance, and coaching leadership to prioritize next steps.

Human Resources - Centering Equity and Managing Risk
with Sheetal Prajapati
Executive directors and managers can spend so much time putting out fires, it can be difficult to focus on your organization’s mission. This interactive session will create a space for everyone in the room to share and learn from one another. Creating equitable HR policies can help retain staff and also protect your organization from legal risk. Taos programs are presented in partnership with the Taos Community Foundation..
